Our Story

HOW WE MET!

We met on my (Caroline's) first day at school. My friend and roommate at the time, Mary, introduced us. He made me laugh and that was it (if you wanna know the story I'll tell you!). I ended up joining Third Avenue Baptist Church, where Tim was already a member for several years. Though our circles didn't overlap much, we always got along and were friends!

In the summer of 2023, we started seeing more of each other and talking a lot more. I was a barista at Quills at the time and he would text me just about every day to see if I was working so he could get free coffee! I also became friends with a dear friend, Juliet, and he was great friends with her brother, Jack, so we started seeing more and more of each other. Finally, we went to youth camp as leaders with our church where we hung out more and he decided at some point he would ask me on a date.

A few weeks later, after one of my shifts at Quills, he walked me to my car and asked me on a date! We got tacos and talked for a few hours and had a great time! We went on a few more, and then he asked me to be his girlfriend!

HOW HE PROPOSED!

After a trip to England for two weeks to spend time with his family, a trip to Mississippi to spend time with mine, and about 9 months of "officially" dating, Tim began to plan the proposal. The only two things I told him were 1) I didn't want a photographer and 2) that I wanted my family to be in town. With my graduation from Southern Seminary coming up and my family already being in town for it, I dropped some hints that this would be the perfect weekend to pop the question! About a week before, he asked me on a date for that Thursday night before my family got in town so we could have time together before the craziness of the weekend. I was sure that this was going to be when he proposed. That Thursday rolls around and we leave the pre-graduation reception and decided to go on a walk, get MozzaPi pizza to-go, and then go fishing at the Jordan's pond (this is one of our favorite things to do together). The whole day he was throwing me off of his scent, to the point that I was convinced he wasn't proposing this day at all. Then, right when we were about to fish, I turned around from looking at the pond and found Tim on a knee with the most stunning ring I've ever seen in his hand! He said some very kind things (most of which I don't remember because I was in absolute shock) and asked me to marry him! We celebrated all weekend with family, friends, and friends who are basically like family! It was the best weekend ever!

The Lord has been faithful and kind to us throughout every step of the way. Our prayer is that our relationship and marriage will be a glimpse of the grace that we have received in Jesus Christ!

Ephesians 2:1-10

"And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."
